Overview
Expand your commercial drone capabilities with the Uncrewed Aviation Australia Night Operations (NVLOS) Course, designed for remote pilots who need to safely and effectively operate RPA at night.

Night operations open opportunities across a wide range of industries where flying during daylight hours is impractical or where the mission specifically requires darkness. Applications include emergency services, search and rescue, thermal inspections, wildlife monitoring, security, infrastructure inspection, surveying and specialist aerial operations.

Operating a drone at night introduces additional risks and human performance considerations that are not normally encountered during daytime operations. Reduced visual references, aircraft orientation, night vision, lighting, fatigue, depth perception and situational awareness all require additional knowledge, planning and operational procedures.

The NVLOS Course combines theory and practical flight training to develop the skills required to plan, risk assess and conduct professional night RPA operations. Pilots gain practical experience operating RPA in reduced-light conditions while learning techniques for maintaining orientation, situational awareness and safe separation from hazards.

Training is designed for pilots operating under a CASA ReOC with the appropriate approval or instrument for night operations, as well as Chief Remote Pilots wishing to develop their own NVLOS capabilities.
